A recent report in The Sunday Indian news weekly says,  Chhattisgarh state administration has ordered that tribal land, which is under the possession of a non-tribal, is to be restored to tribals. The government has issued notices to more than 285 individuals and institutions in Jashpur district.   Out of these 285 individuals almost all are connected to various churches. Around one lakh school children, teachers and workers can cost their education and job because of this policy. Atrocities on Christians are not a new tactic; the report says, in Assam there is a systematic edging out of Christians. The latest in a series of incident involves the order given a few weeks ago to a 162 year old church in the city’s Fancy Bazar area to clear out to make way for the construction of a car park.  These are not isolated incidents there are many such incidents are occurring from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. Even in our state of Andhra Pradesh in Tirupathi  Christian activities are totally banned.  No Christian activity, not even distributing tracts is not allowed.    What to say the day to day political situation is moving faster to a deteriorating state.   Politicians are becoming more and more selfish in their interests.  They make use of every opportunity to gain power and money, their ultimate aim is to gain power and procure more wealth as long as in power.   For this they are willing to play any role.  The recent incidents of human trafficking and different types of scams are proof enough to this.   The so called people’s representatives are exploiting the innocent citizens for their selfish interest. Most of them are cashing in on the cards of cast and religion. The recent election result in Uttar Pradesh is a classic example to this.  It is obvious that our present day political system is so corrupt that even there are nexus between politicians and the underworld.   Many a time the justice is denied to the common man, the rich and the powerful always rule the roost.  Even the highest office of justice, the judiciary in our country is not an exception to this.   Recent verdicts are proof enough to this fact.  On such a situation how an ordinary citizen or for that matter an ordinary Christian believer can expect justice from such administration?   No doubt these incidents and the government’s policy in this aspect is a big concern to the Christians.  There are many other incidents which are unreported. Kings and rulers rose against Christianity from the very beginning to tarnish and destroy Christianity and its followers. In the recent past many writers and film producers surfaced with their stories and films to depict Christ and his followers in a bad shape.  Then suddenly a battalion rose from the Christendom with their pens and papers and with their computer websites.  Tons of paper, ink and huge computer spaces and time wasted for their so called defense arguments to protect Christ and Christianity, some used this opportunity to boost the circulation of their books.   What a sad thing to note that, as if Christ is in dire need of these so called protectors of Christianity. In reality, indirectly they boosted their opponents’ TRP and circulation.   They helped their opponents through their books and websites. That made more curiosity to many young Christians to buy their books or watch their films. This type of concern for Christianity is not a good trend to follow.   It will only create more chaos especially among the youth.   These defenders of Christianity must note that from the very birth of Christianity the enemies of the cross were very present and active.   What happened to Christianity from that very first century?  It flourished and flourished to the `resent enormous state from a meager number. What happened to the ‘D code’ and Lost tomb of      Jesus’ Stories and its creators? They all sink in to the history never to come up again. But Christ and his teachings will last forever.  Is it because of such protectors or defenders of Christianity? No, never. Jesus is God, and He doesn’t need any help from the feeble human beings.  My sincere opinion is that, “Let us not get involved directly and attack the authorities for their policies and the attackers of Christianity. In the book of Romans it is more evident that all authorities are established by God and we must obey the authorities.   It says, “Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves.   For rulers is not a terror to good works, but to evil. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority?  Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same.   For he is God’s minister to you for good.  But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear this sword in vain; for he is God’s minister, and avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil.   Therefore you must be subject, not only because of wrath but also for conscience’ sake…” (Rom. 13:1-7).  Let us follow the foot steps of our Saviour, who left behind a wonderful option to adopt and follow.   Let us follow His steps, He meekly endured all the opposition and got the everlasting victory.  No doubt, in many cases now the authorities are using the power to their whims and fancies.    The olden days’ equality and fraternity are only on paper and in files. Muscle and money power is ruling the roost.  The minorities or the Christians are mute spectators. That does not mean that we should keep quite.   Can we, the Christians keep quiet seeing such inequalities, atrocities and rejections meted out to Christians?  Or, do we need to raise our voice? If, Yes, how? We should have concern towards the public policies taken by the authorities especially when it affects us.   Of course, we must raise our voice, not like the politicians spitting venom on each other through their preaching, writings and web creations, but to raise our voice towards the creator of this universe, not to the authorities of this world but to the creator and controller of this universe.   Yes, the one who created everything can control the situation to His will. We are here, not to retaliate with the authorities, but with a purpose he kept us on this earth.  The word of God very emphatically says that, ‘such things will happen in the end times.  Believers should be more vigilant, not to demand or retaliate but to submit these matters to the Lord Almighty.   There are people exceptions to this even in Christendom. They want to retaliate with the authorities through their different activities.   That is not a healthy trend.  The recent incident happened in Kerala is a shame to Christianity. Two Christian groups fought each other on the public vicinity. They (Even the priests) came out and destroyed the public property and attacked the media and police. They behaved worse than the political parties do. It will mark as a black chapter in the history of Indian Christians. The visual and print media reported this in a huge way. What a shame on us!   Christians, we are watched by a large public, our every moment is noted; let us walk worthy of His calling.  ..That you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God. Col. 1:10.  The very purpose of our life on this earth is to please, glorify and magnify our Saviour and to proclaim His greatness to the perishing world. Let us fulfill the great commission with all our might and resources. His words are a comfort to us “…I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age” Matt. 28: 20.   Let us pray for the authorities to have a change of mind.  the need of the hour is prayer, Let us pray for our nation, quite often we forget to do this in our daily life instead we give more emphasize to the other verse, Pray for the peace of Jerusalem’ Ps. 122:6-7.   No doubt it’s necessary, the Word of God firmly instructs us to do this for our prosperity.  No doubt, that we all do pray for our nation and its leaders, but we need to do this more diligently than ever before.  Let us together call upon His name for a total transformation even among us the Christians.   If we do this as often as we can, things will definitely change.  The time is getting up. The end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers (I Pet. 4:7), let’s do this diligently and on a systematic way.   Let’s do it more as the Day (His Coming) is fast approaching.  Let us pray for our nation and for the leaders to have an encounter with the real leader, the Lord Jesus Christ, the Saviour of the universe. Let that be our main motto and concern. END

Nice to read the article “Let’s pray for our nation and leaders”
A good read and a timely one.
The Bible is very clear on this issue:
Apostle Paul made it very evident in his writings; He exhorted Timothy to pray for kings and for all that are in authority that believers “may lead a quiet and peaceable life” it says, “for kings and all who are in authority in order that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our saviour. (I Timothy 2:2), If we closely watch Paul’s life he is not interested simply in seeking a more comfortable life, instead he lead a life exactly opposite partly due to circumstances and partly by his own making. Such a person exhorted believers to pray for their leaders in order that they might continue in an atmosphere of civil peace and liberty. Thank you for the write-up
